Court of the Crimson King (Island Original)

May 22, 2013
CrimsonIn the Court of the Crimson King is the debut studio album by the British progressive rock group King Crimson. This is the Island original from 1969, ILPS-9111, it has some owner in-fill on the sleeve, which I love actually. I am keeping a Polydor vinyl copy, for now. Nine watchers are currently stacking over the Ebay spaceport.

Disaccumulation Briefing No.1

May 13, 2013

Dis1Working through these items sort-of historically, we begin with a CD of Chopin’s, Etudes Op. 10 & Op.25, played by Maurizio Pollini. Then comes Delius, Paris, Florida Suite, Brigg Fair, with Hickox, et al. Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No.2 and Schubert’s Trout Quintet with Eine Kleine Nacht Musik are all stacked above Ebay and ready to land in someone else’s world.

The T-Rex Wax Co. Singles on Edsel is a great double set, but it is so ubiquitous, this material, that it probably shouldn’t even be an object. In any case, EMI sent this to me for free, and many of the items here were review copies. Similarly, with the Stone Roses Fools Gold EP, the original, and a later spin-off EP of I Am The Resurrection, I am suddenly looking at objects made by bands that have been completely emptied of their significance by circulation. Ditto all the Oasis singles on Creation from the first two LPs.

I have also ridded myself of some Fall singles, vs 2003, 15 Ways and The Chisellers, Ultra Vivid Scene’s Joy 1967-1990 on 4AD is paired with Static and Silence by The Sundays. Good records, but pointless objects somehow.

I reviewed Further Excursions Into The ULU with Dollboy somewhere, for Doppler Shift, I think. It isn’t great. Much Better is Adit by The Lowland Hundred, they make neo-pastoralism work, and quite bravely, but I never listen to them.

Finally, two sealed Japanese imports of CDs by Marble Sheep, Purple and Green, are 500-limited Hendroid-AMT-style jams. Gotta go.
